The gesture of actress-turned-philanthropist, Fisayo Ajisola-Borokinni, will continue to linger in the minds of the beneficiaries of this year’s annual giveback initiative to the underprivileged as part of the main activities marking 10 years of her foundation, the Jewel Empowerment Foundation (JEF).
About 500 underprivileged people in Ibadan, at Oteya Village, and neigbouring communities benefited from the ‘Back to School’ project organised by the non-governmental organisation (NGO) as parents and leaders of the communities could not hide their emotions as their children were presented with school bags, exercise books and writing materials, last week.
Representative of the foundation, Mr Tolulope Olasupo noted that the organisation was delighted to put smiles on the faces of the underprivileged again as it has become the core goal of JEF in the last 10 years.
Olasupo said: “We have been empowering the younger generation for 10 years now and we are fulfilled in impacting lives and promoting education in Nigeria and Africa in our way. It is a committed mission championed by the president of the foundation, Mrs. Fisayo Ajisola-Borokinni and we are happy that God and the support of people have made us achieved so much in affecting lives positively.”
He also urged the beneficiaries to make use of the gifts for their purpose as well as encouraged the pupils to be more committed in their education as it is a major tool to help them in life.
JEF, which has supported the underprivileged in numerous ways in different states, including, Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Ekiti states, and Abuja, in boosting their confidence and giving them a sense of belonging not to be left behind in the society.
