Who says you are not enough to begin from where you are right now to that journey of success and accomplishment? As a young girl, I grew up with a very low self esteem, I just always feel bad about myself and my inadequacies, especially with my low academic performances. During those years, one of my sisters once said (in Yoruba but in English it means), talking to me about my academics was like instilling pain on an existing wound on my body. I struggled all through but deep down, I’ve always known there is more to me than what people could see or perceive.
Even though I repeated a class in one of my junior classes, retook some courses in university, I left my alma maters proudly being the Assembly Prefect in primary school, the Deputy Health and Sanitation Captain in secondary school and the Social Secretary of my faculty while in university. Aside from these leadership positions, during my first year in university, I founded The Jewel Empowerment Foundation, and at completion, I registered my company-Phyreels Limited. In between these years, I have continuously equipped myself with life transforming skills that have made me a better person.
I ask again, who says you are not enough to begin from where you are right now to that journey of success and accomplishment? Life’s challenges may be full of ups and downs, and it could be overwhelming. Those closest to you might have hurt you or say negative things to you; you may even be at the point of giving up; but I am here today to tell you that YOU ARE ENOUGH. I see you, I see your battles, and I see how much you’re working hard to be better and successful, It will definitely happen.
Me saying you’re enough doesn’t mean for you to settle for less, it simply means you have everything within and around you to be successful, to achieve your goals. It’s all about you; and the earlier you have a positive mindset about who you are and what you are made up of, the better.Because this helps you to create your success path through your visions and goals, it helps you to answer the question HOW? (Mission). My dear friend, it’s one thing to have a goal/vision about your life but it’s another thing to figure out how to accomplish that goal. What are the steps to take? Who do I need to talk to? How much money do I need to raise? What course or program do I have to take? How much weight do I have to lose? Who can I partner with? What kind of friends do I need to have? How much reading do I need to do? How can I use my time efficiently? These are one of the “HOW” questions that you need to answer in order to achieve your goals. Afterwards, you take action.
Don’t listen to naysayers or be around those with negative energy, it is better to be alone than to be with those that want to constantly bring you down. Some people don’t just see anything good about you, don’t let that bother you. You’re enough! All you need to do is to focus on your utmost goal. Avoid distractions; be quick to counter any form of negativity with positive words to yourself. Be optimistic. Believe in yourself and what you can do. Invest your time meaningfully. Let your strength come from within, and it will radiate all around you.
Self discovery is the key, just like I said earlier, knowing who you are and what you are made up of, helps you to stand out. Focus on your strengths and improve on your weaknesses. For me, the moment I discovered my acting talents in secondary school, it changed the narrative. I began to love myself and build my self-esteem. I thought to myself, ‘so there’s something I could do and people would applaud me this much? Wow!’ Aside from that, I have a very good charisma and that got me those leadership positions from primary to tertiary institutions. I love to build meaningful relationships with people. I am a goal getter, very daring and hardly gives up. I work hard and try my best to be better at what I do. I am unstoppable, I love me!
Can I ask you the third time, who says you are not enough to begin from where you are right now to that journey of success and accomplishment? YOU ARE ENOUGH. And guess what? I Love You. Thank you for reading till the end. See you at the top!
